LANGKAWI: (Tuesday – Jan 11, 2011): The practice day for the Royal Langkawi International Regatta (RLIR) today (Jan 11) saw 30 sailboats taking the opportunity to put their vessels through the paces off Kuah Harbour.

It sparked a short wave of excitement when the AP flag was finally lowered at 12.15pm. After almost four hours of delay with flat waters and no wind, a gentle breeze started to blow around noon.

With a weather forecast of more and better wind, sailors set off for some real actions on the second day of the Royal Langkawi International Regatta 2011. Despite a two-hour delay when the Race Committee raised the AP flag at 8.37am, it didn’t affect the sailors as some of them took the time to chill out by the bar.

The Evolution Racing emerged the champion again for the sixth time in the Royal Langkawi International Regatta 2011. The Australian team, which had been preparing for the annual sailing competition, was thrilled that their hard work had been paid off.
