Practice Day 7th January 2013 Highlights
The enthusiasm was there today, but, alas, the wind was not. Racing didn’t get underway until 1455. The Start Boat, the Royal Malaysian Marine Police boat PA4, had the PRO’S team in position, half way down Bass Harbor, with sufficient time to make an 0930 start. It just was not to be. The AP flag kept going up every hour and coming down, but to no avail.
Bass Harbour lack of wind Highlights
“There is no concern for severe weather over Langkawi for the next two days” was the statement of one weather forecaster. Tropical Storm ‘SONOMU’ was battering the east coast of Malaysia and the storm was ‘stealing’ our wind!
Race Day 2 Highlights
The Pessimist complains about the wind;
The Optimist hopes it will change;
The Realist trims the sails for it.
The Coastal Course Challenge Highlights
With the fresh breeze meandering about, racing on Bass Harbor today was a jumble of variables, adjustments and good fast sailing. The changes came as the wind clocked around to the South and freshened slightly forcing the PRO to first shift the marks around and then, invariably, to move the Start Boat itself and relocate the Start Line.
A Busy Busy Day Highlights
Today sees the final curtain come down on the 11th Royal Langkawi International Regatta 2013. But not yet!
