The first day of racing took place in Bass Harbor on Tuesday with good winds from the NE giving the Racing Class a close start. ZUHRAH closely following HI FI and YO!2 tacked clear early on. The rest of that fleet headed on in towards land before coming over.
Racing Day 1 – 6th January 2009 Highlights
With winds about 15 knots from the NE, courses were set for the second day of racing in the outer waters of Langkawi Island. It was a brilliant day giving full appreciation for the beauty of sailing in this spectacular setting.
Racing Day 2 – 7th January 2009 Highlights
Long courses were set for the 3rd day of racing to take the competitors around marks along the perimeter of some of Langkawi’s magical 99 islands of paradise. Because of the uncertainty of wind conditions in the afternoon hours, the Club Cruising class was allowed to start on an individual basis.
Racing Day 3 – 8th January 2009 Highlights
Day 4 saw all the participants heading for the outside waters of Langkawi for a series of races that began at 9:30 am.
Racing Day 4 – 9th January 2009 Highlights
Hazy conditions prevailed in Bass Harbor this morning as the competitors readied themselves for the final day of racing. Wind conditions at the Start Boat and Windward Mark were a little shifty, but once the mark was laid it promised a good course for all classes.
