You should try to visit at least one of these night markets during your stay. This is where the locals do their shopping and it should suit the budget of your average yachtie! Sunglasses, watches, DVDs and other bits and pieces can be found amongst the fruit and vegie stalls.

The hot food stalls are what have me coming back week after week, the ayam percik (marinated chicken piece char grilled) satays and fried bee hoon noodles particular favourites. If you are after a sweet treat try the pancake filled with cream corn, peanuts and cinnamon. The cold drinks are refreshing and perfectly safe to drink. Saying "Terima Kasih" (Thank you) on the receipt of your purchase generally guarantees you a smile from the vendors!

On Saturday the market is in Kuah. If you have time why not duck down for a look and a snack to tide you over before the Closing Ceremony. Stalls begin setting up late afternoon.

If you are staying longer, the markets can be found at the following villages:

Monday - Ulu Melaka
Tuesday - Kedawang
Wednesday - Kuah
Thursday - Bohor Tempoyak
Friday - Air Hangat
Saturday - Kuah
Sunday - Padang Matsirat.
