"Laundry!" was the first response I got when I asked
this question. For those who want a little more in life on
the LAY DAY here are some suggestions:
Close to the Yacht Club
- Head into Kuah Town, though many of the shops are a little style challenged
in what they stock, you will soon find out that Langkawi is the perfect place to
restock on T-shirts, rubber flip flops and alcohol.
- Try the Chinese hawker stalls or Malay nasi
kandars for a cheap tasty meal.
- Escape the heat at the well air conditioned
Langkawi Fair shopping mall or the bowling alley at the
ferry terminal.
- Treat yourself to a bit of reflexology, there
are a number of places in town to choose from. Those
looking for more than a foot massage try the spas at the
hotels in town.
- But then again you may feel that the yacht
club pool and Charlie's Place is far enough to go for a
day of rest.
Further a-field
Grab a map, hire a car or motorbike and head to
other parts of the island:
- If you want to 'go animal' head for The Birdpark, Underwater World, the Crocodile Park and the
Snake Sanctuary.
- For the culturally inclined Galeria Perdana,
Air Hangat (a good 15 min.foot massage for RM 10),
Kompleks Budaya Kraf (Craft and Culture centre),
Makam Mahsuri are worth a visit, or explore the Cable
Car at Matcincang.
- Check out Pantai Kok, Telaga Harbour,
Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah, which are great for
watching a sunset, having dinner on the beach, indulging
in some reflexology or a massage and for sampling
Langkawi's laid back night life.
