Langkawi Tidal Wave Tsunami: No Damage to Royal Langkawi Marina

Royal Langkawi Yacht Club came through the Tsunami caused by the Indonesian earthquake with no damage. The orientation and position of the marina provided shelter from direct impact, and the excellent engineering of the marina stood up to the repeated increase and decrease in water levels without any problem.

Early warning alerted management to the impending wave and staff were called in from holiday leave to deal with possible problems.

Staff checked that all boats were secure and that the marina was not damaged and remained on duty in case of any further waves, which fortunately did not arrive.
