EAGLE NEWSLETTER 2008
Sailing in the Sports Boats Class for Youth under 25 is NAVY 5, crewed by a sailing team from the Singapore Management University (SMU). Sujin, Youjin, Timothy, Shinglei, and Benjamin, the helmsman, are an energetic and enthusiastic group of young sailors.
SMU has about 30 active racing sailors who train and sail SMU’s 2 platu boats and two J-24 boats. It was easy for them to step aboard NAVY 5 and know exactly what to do. They are especially pleased with the new sails and equipment on the boat. Some of these young sailors are competing for the first time in the Royal Langkawi International Regatta, but others participated last year. They will go on to compete in the up coming Singapore Straits Regatta next week.
Cool Creature
The RLYC seems to have a mascot, the resident monitor lizard. If you look into the water while having breakfast at Charlie's Place, you'll see this amphibian taking his (or her) morning dip in the ocean. According to RLYC staff, this is a lizard with no name. Does anyone have any ideas for his christening?
